About Me

I began my counseling and training career in  Minnesota over 30 years ago working with adolescents, adults, and families whose lives had been affected by alcohol or other drug addiction. I entered the field as a result of my own recovery as a family member. I held positions as counselor, family therapist, clinical supervisor, program director and executive director (CEO). I conducted training locally, nationally, and internationally on prevention, intervention, treatment, and aftercare recovery. I also helped start or improve inpatient and outpatient addiction programs around the USA.

In 1987, I moved to Arizona and started my private practice and have been in the same location since 1989. My experience has been in helping individuals overcome a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, anger, trauma and abuse, stress, addiction, recovering from dysfunctional family issues, divorce recovery, and single parenting.

My experience with couples has been in communication, enhancing intimacy, conflict resolution skills, parenting and step parenting, problem solving and decision making, divorce recovery, and stress. I have a specialty in working with people who spend large amounts of time away from home (airline industry and professional athletes) and are looking for skills to stay connected to their families.  I continue to provide training to corporations, government agencies, schools, and small businesses.

I am also a Military Family Life Consultant and occasionally go on assignments to work with  servicemen and their families.

Personally, I am happily married in a second marriage and enjoy spending time with our four adult children (2 from my 1st marriage and 2 from his), and our amazing grandchildren.
