FAQ
A: You can learn what
drives your current struggles and find a sense of relief
through counseling. Learning what makes you feel the way
you do or what makes you have certain experiences is
often part of the process of therapy.
Q: What should I expect during my first call
and appointment?
A: When you call, I will ask you for a brief
statement of why you are seeking counseling. I will
arrange the first available time that works for both
of us, and schedule an initial appointment. I will
ask you to arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled
appointment in order to complete initial forms. Or,
you may download the forms and complete them before
arriving. You are not considered a client until we
meet in person.
Q: How do I pay?
A: I accept some insurance (Humana, BC/BS, AZ Foundation, Healthnet, MHN), and I am an “out of
network provider” on most plans. Please check with
your insurance coverage by calling the behavioral
health number on your insurance card. I accept cash,
checks, and credit cards - Visa, MasterCard, and
Discover Card. My rates are $155 for the initial
session and all couple or family sessions, and $130
for individual sessions. Sessions typically last
50-55 minutes.
Q: When are you in the office?
A: My normal times are from 10:00AM until
7:00PM Tuesday through Thursday. I do try to
accommodate your schedule if you need times outside
of these.
Q: How do I get my spouse/partner to come?
A: If asking directly for them to join you
doesn’t work, you come alone. When you begin to make
changes, the partner often responds positively by
joining counseling at a later time. In my practice,
this happens more often than not.
Q: How long will it take?
A: Each situation is different, but my goal
is to have you make significant and rapid progress.
Most clients attend weekly for the first month, then
we evaluate how many more sessions you will need (if
any) and the timing between sessions.
